Glencoe Man Uncovers $100,000 Scratchers Prize

Mixing up his game play paid off for a Glencoe resident, when the $20 Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket he bought revealed an unexpected prize of $100,000. Michael Brickey, 46, bought the winning ticket at Dierbergs, 2460 Taylor Road in Wildwood, on Nov. 29.

“It floats back and forth,” Brickey said of his playing habits. “I usually play the $5 and $10 tickets, and I just play a $20 one every once in a while.”

However, his $20 purchase that day turned out to be the right decision at just the right time.

“It was pure luck,” he said of the $100,000 win. “I’m still in shock, still not believing it. I can’t tell you how many times I stared at that ticket to make sure those numbers were the same.”

Brickey plans to pay off some bills and save money toward a house, but he hasn’t yet decided if his winnings will be used to fund any splurge purchases.

“I really haven’t thought that far ahead,” he shared, adding that after the necessities are taken care of, he will “see what kind of ‘fun money’ we have.”

$5,000,000 Big Money” is a $20 game that started May 31. More than $63.4 million in prizes are still available in the game, including two top prizes of $5 million. Remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be tracked here.
