The weekend was pretty ordinary for Gary Orr of St. Louis, even after winning a $131,000 Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash jackpot on Friday, Oct. 7. That’s because the 24-year-old didn’t realize he held the sole winning ticket until four days later.
On the Tuesday following his win, the warehouse worker and regular Show Me Cash player walked into a retail location, ticket in hand, and walked out with a smile and a $131,000 prize.
“I had just went up and put my ticket under the scanner,” he said, explaining how the store’s Check-A-Ticket machine relayed the good news to him.
He kept his win low-key in front of the store clerk and other customers, but he made arrangements to head to the Lottery’s St. Louis office to claim his prize the very same day.
His first priority is to pay off debt, but when asked if he also had his sights set on any special purchases or trips, he shared, “Yeah. But not right now.”
The winning Show Me Cash numbers on Oct. 7 were: 19, 24, 26, 32 and 38.
Orr purchased his Quick Pick ticket at United Mart, 949 Chambers Road, in St. Louis. It’s the second time a Show Me Cash jackpot ticket has been sold at that location. A $166,000 ticket was sold there for the June 30, 2014, drawing.
The win marks the 429th winning Show Me Cash jackpot ticket since the game began in 2008.
Show Me Cash is a $1 daily Draw Game with a jackpot that starts at $50,000 and grows until someone wins. So far in 2016, there have been 43 winning jackpot tickets with an average prize of $158,791.
