"Right now we are reminding players to play responsibly," said Gary Gonder, director of communications for the Missouri Lottery. "It only takes $1 to win."
Gonder also said people who do plan to buy a ticket for the drawing should try to do so early to avoid long lines that happen closer to the drawing.
"The terminals in Missouri will close at 8:59 p.m. on Saturday night," he said. "I wouldn’t wait until then to buy a ticket."
Players should always sign the back of their ticket and put it in a safe place.
"There are nine prizes you could win in Powerball, so keep your ticket in a safe place and check it after the drawing to see if it is a winner," Gonder said.
