JEFFERSON CITY MAN WINS $5,000 IN POWERBALL

Story Photo A computer information technician for the state recently claimed a $5,000 Powerball prize from the Dec. 7 drawing.   Robert "Eric" Meyer, 28, said he stopped for gas on Dec. 6 at Amoco, 718 W. Stadium in Jefferson City, next to Wal-Mart.  While there, he noticed the Powerball jackpot was estimated at $90 million, so he used the $4 left in his wallet to buy tickets.  The fourth play turned out to be the winner.

Meyer, who works for the Office of Administration, said he plans to use the prize money to pay bills and pay extra on his home mortgage.

Meyer won the prize by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball number.   He let the computer generate his numbers.  Those winning numbers were:  3, 17, 27 and 48 and the Powerball number was 1.
