PLUMBER WINS $300,000 IN ST. JOSEPH

Story Photo

A 29-year-old plumber flushed out a $300,000 instant prize in the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game called "$300,000 Cash." Marty McCall of Wathena, Kan., said he bought one $10 "$300,000 Season’s Greetings" Scratchers ticket and won $20. On Nov. 5, he redeemed his $20 prize at Imperial Super Gas, 811 S. 6th St. in St. Joseph, and spent $10 of his winnings to buy one $10 "$300,000 Cash" ticket. That ticket turned out to be worth the top prize of $300,000.

McCall, who works for Faulkner Plumbing in St. Joseph, said he and his wife, Tara, plan to pay off their home mortgage and car loans with the winnings. They also plan to buy another vehicle.

"My mom has an ice cream business that closes in the winter," McCall said. "I’m going to make her payments through the winter."

"$300,000 Cash," the Missouri Lottery’s first $10 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Aug. 24.
