ST. LOUIS WOMAN WINS $50,000 TAX PAID
A St. Louis (63137**) woman is planning a tropical vacation after winning $50,000 tax paid in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing on Sept. 21. Johnnie Byrd-Carter, 47, said she also plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills.
"I plan to take a nice relaxing vacation on an island somewhere," she said.
Byrd-Carter, who is a customer service representative for Southwestern Bell, purchased her winning ticket at Bellefontaine Amoco, 10844 Bellefontaine Road in Bellefontaine. She let the computer pick the winning numbers. They were: 2, 5, 14, 16 and 24.
To date, 45 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 27 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on it’s value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $72,463.76. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
