JEFFERSON CITY CATERER WHIPS UP $5,000

Story Photo

The owner of a Jefferson City catering company whipped up a $5,000 prize on the Missouri Lottery’s "Crossword" Scratchers game. Rita Wolken, the owner of Popp’s Catering Inc., said she stopped by Bee Line Snack Shop on Route B in Jefferson City on Oct. 21 to get a soda on her way home. She scratched the ticket when she got home and found out it was a $5,000 winner.

Wolken, 55, plans to share her prize money with her nine children.

"Crossword," a $3 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Oct. 12.
