Story Photo

An emergency medical technician (EMT) from Montgomery City uncovered a $5,000 prize in the Missouri Lottery’s new "Crossword" Scratchers game. Keith Reynolds, 24, said he bought two tickets at Break Time, 101 E. Highway 54 in Vandalia, on Oct. 20. On the first ticket he won $6, and on the second ticket, he won $5,000.

"At first I thought it was $500," said Reynolds, who is an EMT for the Montgomery County Ambulance District.

Reynolds said he plans to use his prize money to pay bills and buy some nice Christmas presents for his 1-year-old daughter. He said he might also buy a new gun for the upcoming deer season.

"Crossword," a $3 Scratchers game, officially went on sale on Oct. 12.
