POWER PLAY NUMBER BRINGS SPRINGFIELD MAN FIVE TIMES THE PRIZE

Story Photo

A retired Springfield man turned up the power on his prize winnings by using the Power Play feature and multiplying his Powerball winnings times five. Norman "Gene" Glor, 65, matched four white ball numbers and the Powerball number drawn in the Oct. 16 Powerball drawing to win the $5,000 prize. Since he paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option and the Power Play number drawn that night was "5", he ended up winning $25,000.

"I’ll probably put it in the bank first," Glor said. He said he and his wife, Lynn, may also use some of the money to pay off a credit card.

Glor purchased his winning ticket at Git-N-Go, 1313 W. Battlefield Road in Springfield. He selected the winning combination of numbers using his and his wife’s birthdays. The winning numbers were: 8, 11, 24, 31 and 37.
