NURSE FROM FREDERICKTOWN WINS $50,000 TAX PAID

A nurse from Fredericktown turned $1 into $50,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 Paydown game on Sept. 7. Linda L. Poole, 44, said it was only about the third time she had ever played the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 Paydown game.

Poole, who works for both the Farmington Correctional facility and the Department of Mental Health, said she plans to pay off her 2001 Dodge Ram pickup with the prize money. She also plans to share some money with her family and put some money into savings for a trip next year.

Poole purchased her winning ticket at Convenience Barn in Farmington. She let the computer generate the winning combination. Those numbers were: 2, 9, 10, 26 and 31.

* The Missouri Lottery will pay 27 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on it’s value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $72,463.76. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
