INDEPENDENCE TRUCK DRIVER HAULS IN $100,000

Story Photo A truck driver from Independence recently hauled in $100,000 after the numbers on his Powerball ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn on Aug. 28. Richard Coleman, 45, said he bought just one Powerball ticket for that drawing when he stopped in QuikTrip, 2121 Burlington in North Kansas City, for gasoline after work. Coleman said the day after the drawing, he picked up a winning numbers report and took it home to check his ticket. After looking at the ticket and the report several times, he even put his glasses on to make sure he was seeing correctly. Coleman let the computer generate the winning combination. The winning numbers were: 24, 30, 36, 37 and 38. Coleman, who drives a truck for Pella Window products, said he plans to use the prize money to pay bills and take a vacation. To date, 608 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
