A Springfield Park Board maintenance worker cleaned up over the Labor Day weekend, when he bought one Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on Sept. 5 and ended up winning a $100,000 top prize. Luke Green, 23, of Fair Grove said he went to Casey’s General Store, 2715 W. Chestnut Expressway in Springfield, to buy a Lottery ticket. He bought only one $5 ticket, which was from the “$100,000 Bonanza” game. When he uncovered it, it was worth $100,000.

“It’s the one (game) I have been playing the past month or so,” he said. “It took me about 30 minutes to figure out I won $100,000.”

Green went back to his office, told a co-worker about his win and then called his parents.

His first plans for the money are to fund a vacation.

“I was planning to be on vacation this week, but it got cancelled,” he said. “My friend couldn’t afford it. So I called him yesterday and told him we’re going!”

Green said he and his friend plan to take a week’s vacation to Florida. He also plans to pay off loans, buy a new truck and save the remainder of the prize winnings.

$100,000 Bonanza” is a $5 Scratchers game that officially began June 27. More than $8.5 million in prizes remain in the game, including four more $100,000 top prizes. An updated list of remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found on our Scratchers page.
