Belton Resident Lands $50,000 Powerball Prize

A $2 Missouri Lottery Powerball ticket is the only thing that stood between Edward Stevens and $50,000. The Belton resident purchased his winning ticket from Price Chopper, 109 N. Cedar Drive in Belton, for the July 30 drawing.

Stevens, 64, likes to play an assortment of Lottery Draw Games from time-to-time, and will usually use Quick Pick to allow the computer to randomly choose his numbers. This time around, however, he used a close friend’s lucky roulette numbers to match four out of five white balls and the Powerball – 11, 17, 21, 23 and 32 with a Powerball of 5 – to win his prize.

Before winning his $50,000 prize, the retired Belton resident and his wife already planned and paid for two upcoming vacations in Aruba and Cabo San Lucas. Stevens plans to use some of the prize as spending money for those vacations, but he will pay off bills and save a majority of the prize.

Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game that features jackpots starting at $40 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Stevens is the 63rd Missouri Lottery Powerball player to win a $50,000 prize since the October 2015 matrix change, which raised the third-tier prize from $10,000 to $50,000.
