A Jefferson City man added extra pep to his day after he stopped at a convenience store for an energy drink and ended up winning $100,000 taxes paid. Jacob Pinkston, 32, said his routine is to stop by Convenient Food Mart, 710 Eastland Drive in Jefferson City, before work for a drink and sometimes Missouri Lottery tickets. On Aug. 18, he bought an energy drink and “$100,000 Taxes Paid” Scratchers ticket that ended up containing one of the game’s top prizes.

“I scratched it in the parking lot before work,” Pinkston said. “I was about 20 minutes early.”

After realizing he won, he said, “I took a big deep breath, got out of the car and screamed!”

The engaged father-of-three said he plans to give his mother $10,000 of the prize money.

“She’s helped me tremendously,” he said.

He also plans to take care of his family, buy a new pre-owned car, buy some musical equipment and save the rest.

$100,000 Taxes Paid” is a $5 game that officially began July 25. More than $13 million in prizes, including three tax-paid top prizes, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game at MOLottery.com.
