Ashland Resident Wins $10,000 in New Florence

A pit stop while on her way home from a work trip in St. Louis yielded a $10,000 Missouri Lottery Scratchers prize for Kaptola Baker of Ashland.
“Honestly, I just needed to go to the bathroom,” disclosed Baker, 38. “I’m not even sure where I was at. It was somewhere on I-70.”
Baker made her stop at Abel’s Quick Shop, 431 Booneslick Road in New Florence, on Aug. 10. While at the location, Baker noticed that they had one of her favorite Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets – “Lucky 7s Playbook.”
“I like to play my Playbooks a little weird. I like to start with the games in the middle and work my way out,” described Baker. “I also like to scratch all of the numbers first, then go back and scratch the prizes to see what I won.”
The mother-of-two was in her car when she uncovered a “ruby” symbol on the first game in her Playbook, which doubled a $5,000 prize to $10,000.
“I kept hitting the steering wheel because I couldn’t believe there were that many zeros. I had to call my boss to tell her I would be coming in late the next day,” said Baker.
Although the Ashland resident did return to work the following day after claiming her prize, she is hoping that she will get to take some time off in the near future to do something fun with her $10,000.
With six games in one booklet, the “Lucky 7s Playbook” was the first-of-its-kind Scratchers game when it was first introduced on March 31, 2014. More than two years later, the $20 game still has more than $4.8 million in remaining prizes, including two $250,000 top prizes.
