A home improvement company is doing brisk business this summer, but thanks to a Missouri Lottery ticket, the bottom line just got $100,000 better. Darren Ellis of St. Louis is the owner of Ellis Construction and Home Improvement. He was on his way to drop off equipment at a job site when he stopped at Gas Mart, 6901 Hampton Ave. in St. Louis, and bought a “Black Pearls” Scratchers ticket that turned out to be worth $100,000.

“I bought this ticket because they were out of the tickets I like, but basically I haven’t won anything on ‘Black Pearls,’ so it’s just a fluke,” said Ellis.

He added that his favorite game was the $10 “MONOPOLY™” Scratchers ticket.

“At the end of the year, you seem to be about even,” he continued. “You win some days, you lose some days. It’s Lottery.”

He said he’ll be conservative with the $100,000 windfall.

“I’m just going to put it in the bank, and make sure I pay all the taxes, get ahead on payroll, and so on and so forth,” said the business owner.

Black Pearls” is a $5 game that officially began Feb. 29. The ticket features play areas on the front and back on the ticket. More than $7 million in prizes, including two top prizes, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
