Huntsville Man Makes Plans for $50,000 Lottery Win

A bathroom remodel is in the works for a Huntsville man who won $50,000 taxes paid through the Lottery’s “Dream Home Makeover” second-chance promotion. Jeffrey Duncan, 25, was randomly selected in the promotion’s grand-prize drawing on July 14. For Duncan, the win – which includes $45,000 cash and $5,000 in The Home Depot?¥ Gift Cards – will allow him to renovate his grandmother’s bathroom, as well as pay off some bills.

“My grandma got me started with scratch-offs,” he said, citing that a leak had left her bathroom in need of repairs. “I’ve always played them, but then my aunt told me to enter them on the website for second chances.”

Following that advice, Duncan entered a handful of “$100,000 Dream Makeover” Scratchers tickets into the “Dream Home Makeover” promotion and, ultimately, found himself surprised and in Jefferson City to claim the grand prize.

In addition to the influence of his grandmother and aunt, Duncan believes another family member may have also played a hand in his good fortune.

“My sister passed away five months ago,” he shared. “This is her looking out for me.”

“She’s definitely looking out for him” his wife, Chelsea, added.

The $5 “$100,000 Dream Makeover” ticket also offers instant-win prizes of $100,000 cash, as well as the chance to uncover one of more than 1,000 The Home Depot Gift Card prizes worth $500.
