A Washburn woman admitted that her husband plays the Missouri Lottery more than she does, but she ended up with the $100,000 winning ticket. Sarah Setzer, 52, said her husband, Wesley, sent her into Trojan PQ Mart, 112 S. Oldwire Road in Washburn, to get some Scratchers while he was filling out paperwork. She picked out four $5 games, including two “Cash Vault” tickets.

“I went out there and my husband said, ‘Here, you just scratch them.’ He gave me a lucky quarter,” recalled Setzer. “I thought I was seeing things. I scratched, and I thought, ‘Oh, I won $20.’ Then I just kept scratching zeros. I about had a heart attack.”

She asked her husband to clarify what she was seeing, to which he replied, “Looks like a bass boat.”

Of course, the two will share the money. Plans include a cruise for their one-year anniversary.

“After we pay off my car, his truck and our property,” said Setzer. “We don’t owe much on any of them, so we’ll be free and clear!”

She added that she was feeling “ecstatic.”

“Because we’re getting to the age where we can go fishing more now,” she said.

Thrilled with the win, Setzer told other players to keep trying.

“It does happen to people!” she said. “Don’t think it will never happen, because it might.”
Cash Vault” is a $5 game that officially began Jan. 25, 2016. Setzer claimed the third top prize of five in the game. More than $6 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
