Peculiar Woman Scratches Off $100,000 Prize

Just a day after her husband had teased her about winning the lottery, Vickie Long of Peculiar turned the tables with news of her very own, very real, $100,000 Missouri Lottery Scratchers prize.

“He had jokingly told me that he’d won the lottery because of a new job,” she explained, laughing about his initial reaction to her win. “So he thought I was lying, and I had to tell him, ‘This is NOT a joke. I won $100,000!’”

Long purchased her winning “$5,000,000 Big Money” ticket at Harmon Tire Co., 101 S. Madison Ave. in Raymore, and then implemented her own personal playing strategy.

“I think it’s unlucky to scratch off the ticket in the store,” she teased. “I go out to the car to do it.”

Her game plan panned out this time, and she soon found herself back in the store asking the clerk to “make sure I wasn’t seeing anything wrong.”

After getting confirmation, Long said she now has big plans for her winnings.

“I’m paying off a large student loan,” she said. “The car, credit card and student loan debt… gone! All paid!”

In addition to top prizes of $5 million, “$5,000,000 Big Money” offers thousands of other prizes, ranging from $20 to $100,000 – all of which can be tracked on the Scratchers pages at MOLottery.com. To date, there are still more than $82 million in prizes still available in the game.
