A former state employee was one of two winners from the May 20 Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash drawing. The $385,000 jackpot was split by two players, one of which was Calvin Speckhals of Jefferson City. The 58-year-old former Dept. of Corrections employee purchased his winning Quick Pick ticket at Break Time, 810 Stadium Blvd., in Jefferson City.

“I’ve been playing this one (Show Me Cash) about a year or so. It’s a local game,” explained Speckhals, meaning that it’s only available in Missouri.

His strategy of playing the state game paid off when he was one of two players to match all five winning numbers on May 20. Each winner will receive half of the jackpot amount, or $192,500. The other winning ticket was sold in Farmington.

The winning Show Me Cash numbers for May 20 were:  10, 12, 24, 29 and 39.

Even though he split the prize, Speckhals was thrilled with the win. He had just returned from fishing with a friend when he discovered he had one of the winning tickets.

“I almost forgot about it until I checked it at the store, and it said to come to the Lottery office,” he recalled.

Speckhals said he planned to invest most of his winnings. Other plans include paying off his truck and having some dental work done. He also said he’ll keep playing.

“I’ll keep it up. Keep trying,” he counseled other players.

Break Time received a $250 bonus for selling a winning jackpot ticket.

Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until someone wins. In the last year, a total of 49 Show Me Cash jackpots have been awarded for an average amount of $168,000.
