COLUMBIA WOMAN WINS TWO BIG PRIZES ON DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY

Story Photo A Columbia woman won $1,000 on a "Diamond Dollars" Scratcher ticket and $3,125 playing Pick 4 on Aug. 17, her only daughter’s birthday. Patricia "Pat" Young, 56, said she will probably use the prize money to help pay off the loan on the car her husband bought for her birthday.

Young purchased her winning ticket at Nowell’s Foods, 900 N. Keene St. in Columbia, where she works as a meat wrapper. She said she also plans to share a little prize money with her daughter and husband, Arthur.

"Diamond Dollars," a $2 game, officially began on April 27.
