Sikeston Retail Location Generates $1.5 Million for Education

Each year since 2011, BJ’s Kwik Shop, 905 S. Main St. in Sikeston, has consistently sold more than $1 million in Missouri Lottery products. In honor of their efforts, BJ’s Kwik Shop is again being inducted into the Missouri Lottery’s annual Million Dollar Club – an elite group of retailers that sell more than $1 million in Lottery product during a given year.

“The 2015 Million Dollar Club consists of 28 Lottery retailers. Based on their Lottery sales last year, these 28 retailers collectively generated millions to public education,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “In 2015 alone, public education benefited more than $288,000 from Lottery sales at BJ’s Kwik Shop, bringing their five-year total to more than $1.5 million. We are so proud of all of these retail locations. Because of their dedication, public education is the real winner.”

Reardon explained that the Million Dollar Club is a way to honor retail locations that are going above and beyond to raise money for a variety of programs, including A+ Scholarships, Virtual Schools, Special Education Excess Costs, Access Missouri, the Classroom Trust Fund, library acquisitions and educational scholarships.

“We are hosting a customer appreciation at BJ’s Kwik Shop today to celebrate the store’s success and reward their customers by awarding prizes,” Reardon said.
