A Springfield woman who enjoys Missouri Lottery crossword games finally has her payday. Susan Brackley, 49, uncovered a $50,000 prize on a “$50,000 Crossword Extra” Scratchers ticket she purchased at Signal Food Store, 2415 S. Campbell, in Springfield. She realized she was a winner late on April 16.

“I kept counting words, and I was like, ‘No, that’s not right.’ It took me about 30 minutes to figure out that I really had done it,” began Brackley. “And then I didn’t know what to think, because it was so surreal.”

She told her roommate, and the two of them braved the night to go check the ticket at store.

“They confirmed that it was a $50,000 winner,” Brackley said.

She added that the two remained calm until they left the store, but a party was imminent.

“Oh, it’s coming,” she declared.

The restaurant worker said she hoped to save most of it, but that she might splurge on a pool table.

“It’s going to be a nest egg, for sure,” explained Brackley. “If anything happens with the job or whatever, I’ll have something to fall back on.”

She said she also plays Powerball and Show Me Cash, in addition to her favorite game.
“I like the Scratchers, the bingos and the crosswords. They take longer; it feels like you got something for your money,” she said. “Just keep playing. It really can happen.”

$50,000 Crossword Extra” is a $3 game that officially began Dec. 2, 2015. To date, more than $3 million in prizes remain, including one top prize. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
