A New Florence woman had a feeling about a particular Missouri Lottery Scratchers game and eventually won $100,000. Julie Penn, 52, said she had been telling people to play the “Black Pearls” game.

“Where I work, I told everybody, ‘You need to go buy one of them. I’ve just got a feeling about them,’” she recounted.

Penn works for Phoenix Converting in Jonesburg, but the winner arrived on the way to Easter dinner. She and her boyfriend, Lonnie, stopped at Crossroads General Store, 110 Johnson in Middletown, where she bought two of the “Black Pearls” tickets. She scratched them off after getting back in the car.

“This is going to be a big one,” she said as she scratched. “So, I scratched off one of the nines, and it said $5,000. I thought I was going to faint. I’ve been sick ever since.”

Penn is feeling better, and the concept of paying off some bills is helping.

Penn joked that her boss didn’t believe her when she called to ask off to claim her prize. She assured him that she wasn’t going to quit.

“We can take a nice vacation, though,” said Lonnie.

Black Pearls” is $5 game that officially began Feb. 29. The game features a top prize of $100,000 and has play areas on the front and back of the ticket.  Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
