Centertown Couple Find Lottery Luck on St. Patrick's Day

Anna and Jim Berendzen didn’t need a four-leaf clover or a horseshoe to find luck on St. Patrick’s Day; all they needed was a Missouri Lottery “Lucky 7s Playbook” Scratchers ticket. Anna purchased the couple’s $10,000-winning ticket from Mr. G’s Liquor Store, 306 W. Buchanan St., while running errands in California on March 17.
“I hadn’t tried one of those Playbooks yet, so I figured I would give it a shot,” began Anna, while claiming the prize at Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City on March 21.

Jim uncovered the $10,000 prize after Anna returned home with a selection of Missouri Lottery tickets.

“(Jim) was playing the ticket and said to me, ‘I think I won something here.’ I didn’t believe him until I saw it myself,” Anna said.
The retired grandparents are looking forward to stashing away their $10,000 St. Patrick’s Day haul in their savings account and holding onto it as long as they can.
The first "Playbook" style Scratchers game offered by the Missouri Lottery, “Lucky 7s Playbook” was introduced on March 31, 2014. The $20 game includes six separate games, 122 chances to win and more than $7 million in remaining prizes, including two $250,000 top prizes.
