A St. Louis painter who has done a lot of work rehabbing historic buildings in St. Louis is $30,000 richer after playing the Missouri Lottery’s Pick 4 game. Shawna Geiler, 43, said she plans to use most of her windfall to invest into her and her husband’s business, Unique Building and Design.

“We’re trying to help bring the historical part of St. Louis back,” she said.

Geiler said she also shared some of the prize money with the clerk that sold the winning tickets to her.

“I usually play straight, not combo,” she said. “The clerk accidentally ran it (five tickets) as a combo. She asked if I wanted her to void it, and I said, ‘No.’ I figure everything happens for a reason.”

As luck would have it, the combo paid off with each ticket winning $6,000 for a total prize of $30,000.

“I put $500 in a card and gave it to her,” she said. “She said it made her day.”

Geiler purchased the tickets on Feb. 27 at Joel’s Shell Foodmart, 1815 Arsenal, in St. Louis. She used the combination 0-4-0-1, which she has played for some time.

Geiler and her husband, Johnny, have four children ranging in age from 17-24. In addition to this win, Geiler won $12,000 playing Pick 4 last December.

“God has blessed us so,” she added.

Pick 4 is a twice daily cash Draw Game that offers players a chance to win up to $6,000.
