A Cuba man plans to use some of his prize winnings to get rid of a car payment after he matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball drawn on Aug. 10. Leon Gruver, 36, said he stopped to grab a few groceries and have some Lottery tickets scanned on his way to church last Sunday. Of the 11 tickets he had, the last one turned out to be a $5,000 winner.Gruver, who works as a bundler for Von Hoffman Graphics, purchased his winning ticket at Lin-Den Oil, 5883 Highway 19 in Cuba.
"I didn’t know what to think," Gruver said. "I almost forgot to pay for the items I had on the counter."
Gruver and his wife, Kathy, plan to use the money to pay off a car loan and other bills.
"It will be nice to have the extra money each month we would have spent to pay off our car loan," said Gruver.
