A Missouri Lottery player found a surprise in his truck console to the tune of $233,000. Robert “Bob” Brown, 51, says he has played the Lottery’s in-state Show Me Cash Draw Game ever since it began in 2008.

“I’ll buy a few tickets at a time,” said Brown, while claiming his prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis office on Feb. 8. “I had a stack of tickets in my truck’s center console. My wife and I each took some and checked them at the store.”

When one of the tickets being checked by Brown’s wife, Christi, flagged a “Claim at Lottery” message, Brown knew that the couple’s fortune had changed.

“We went home to check all the numbers, and sure enough we matched all five,” recalled Brown, adding that his wife’s screaming reaction alerted one of their two daughters about the win.

While claiming his $233,000 jackpot, Brown, who works for a lumber company, noted that the win could not have come at a better time for his family.

“My wife has been out of work for seven months. Last week she got a call saying that she got a new job, and then we won this. Today is her first day,” said the relieved winner.

With the $233,000 windfall, the Ballwin resident is looking forward to repainting his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro and traveling a little more with his wife.

Brown purchased his winning Show Me Cash ticket at QuikTrip, 16100 Manchester Road in Ellisville, and he used Quick Pick to correctly match all five numbers drawn in the Jan. 24 drawing, which were:  5, 10, 22, 28 and 30. For selling the winning jackpot ticket, QuikTrip received a $500 selling bonus.

Show Me Cash” is a daily Draw Game that features a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000 and grows until someone wins. Brown’s $233,000 win marks the 391st Show Me Cash jackpot won since the Draw Game was introduced in 2008. In the past 12 months, 47 jackpots have been won with an average jackpot of more than $171,000. Find more winner stories by clicking the "Newsroom" tab above.
