Steven Fargo of Modesto, Calif., was having a bad day on Jan. 22. He had flown from California to Pennsyvlania to purchase a big rig for his new job, and the truck broke down on his way back home. He was trying to make arrangements for repairs at Love’s Travel Stop, 3500 Hy Point Industrial Drive in Rolla, when he decided to buy a Missouri Lottery ticket. His day got infinitely better when he uncovered a $100,000 prize.
“I bought a ticket, and boom!” said Fargo.

He won on a $5 “MONOPOLY™” Scratchers ticket. At first, Fargo thought he won $20,000. After getting a tow to the Peterbuilt dealership in St. Louis, he and his wife, Denna, cabbed it over to the St. Louis Lottery office.

“I was pretty mad this morning, but now I’m like, ‘Woohoo!’ I don’t really care that the truck broke down now,” he said.
Although Fargo won’t likely be back in Missouri soon, he knows the way to win.

“Can’t win unless you play,” he said. “I mean, that’s a given, right?”

MONOPOLY” is a $5 game that officially began Aug. 3, 2015. Fargo claimed the fifth of six top prizes in the game. More than $9 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
