$2.8 Million in Prizes, $23.5 Million for Education

What a ride! After an unprecedented journey that grew a $40 million jackpot in November into a world record-shattering $1.5 billion for last night’s Powerball drawing, the streak is finally over, with Missouri Lottery players winning millions of dollars in prizes overnight. In all, more than 429,587 ticket holders won a combined $2.8 million Wednesday night, including 15 tickets that won $50,000 by matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball.

“All players should check their tickets closely,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “There’s a good chance you might have won one of the game’s other prizes.”
Reardon noted that the big winner from the jackpot run is Missouri education.

“We sold more than $60.8 million in Powerball tickets during this jackpot run, which means that approximately $23.5 million from Powerball sales alone will go to public education programs in Missouri.”

Missouri businesses also earned more than $3 million from selling Powerball tickets during this run.

The winning numbers from last night’s drawing were:  4, 8, 19, 27, 34 and the Powerball number was 10. Players have exactly 180 days from the drawing – until July 11, in this case – to claim their prizes.
