The recent season of giving has become one of special memories for Christy Allen of Jefferson City, who received a “$1,000 Frenzy” Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket as a gift from her husband’s aunt. The gift ended up being worth $10,000.

“She buys a Lottery ticket for everyone each year,” began the mother of five, while claiming her prize on Jan. 12. “It kind of stunned me at first. I thought there had to be a catch.”

Allen, 39, received her $10,000 ticket at a family holiday gathering, where she also uncovered her prize.

“I saw that the first number I scratched was for $1,000,” continued Allen. “Then everyone stood around while I scratched the rest. Everybody would cheer for every $1,000 I scratched off.”

With the $10,000 haul, the stay-at-home-mother is looking forward to paying bills. The winner said that the aunt who gifted the ticket wanted nothing in return, but Allen plans on having her over for dinner to celebrate.

The winning “$1,000 Frenzy” Scratchers ticket was purchased at Joe’s Market, Highway 63 S., in Westphalia.
$1,000 Frenzy” is the $10 ticket in the newest family of Scratchers games. Introduced on Dec. 29, 2015, the ticket is loaded with $1,000 prizes and offers players more than $38.7 million in remaining prizes. Allen claimed one of 70 $10,000 prizes available in the game.
