Potosi Couple Finds $250,000 on Christmas Day

It’s going to be tough to top this year’s Missouri Lottery Christmas surprise for one Potosi couple. On Dec. 25, Curtis and Dawn Harris, 43 and 44, purchased an assortment of Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets from Casey’s General Store, 403 N. Missouri St. in Potosi, where they make all of their Lottery purchases. One of the tickets, a “Garland Riches” Scratchers game, contained a $250,000 top prize.
While claiming their quarter-million-dollar prize on Dec. 28, Curtis said that shock and disbelief were the couple’s immediate reactions after uncovering the prize. The parents plan to pay off and renovate their house with the $250,000 haul.
Garland Riches” is the $10 holiday-themed Scratchers ticket that was introduced on Oct. 19. The game offers players prizes ranging from $10 to $250,000, with more than $1.9 million remaining. Additional game information can be found here at MOLottery.com.

The Missouri Lottery reminds players not to give Lottery tickets as gifts for children under 18 years old.
