Early preparation for the recent Thanksgiving holiday has made a Liberty resident the newest Missouri Lottery millionaire.

“I just got better luck today,” said a relieved Rodney Brown, while claiming his seven-figure prize on Nov. 25. “I was picking up food for Thanksgiving, and I bought me a ticket on the way out.”

Brown, 66, purchased his winning “MONOPOLY™” Scratchers ticket at Price Chopper, 896 S. 291 Highway in Liberty, on Nov. 25.

“I’ve always had pretty good luck on the MONOPOLY tickets,” revealed Brown, who uncovered the prize at the Price Chopper location. “I just kept looking at it, and I thought, ‘Well, this is a joke.’ I was just in disbelief.”

With his $1 million prize, Brown is looking forward to making final rent payments and purchasing a home that he can call his own.
The $10 “MONOPOLY” Scratchers ticket is one of four tickets in a family of games with the “MONOPOLY” theme. Introduced on Aug. 3, the $10 game still has more than $27.8 million in remaining prizes, including two $1 million top prizes. Brown was the first Missouri Lottery player to claim a $1 million prize.
