Greenwood Man Wins $3 Million Taxes Paid

Winning $3 million is even better when the Missouri Lottery is paying the taxes. One Greenwood man can attest to that fact after winning the top prize on a “$3,000,000 Taxes Paid” Scratchers ticket. Brandon Vincent, 32, uncovered the $3 million winning ticket after work one night.

“They were out of the brand new $20 one (ticket) that you guys just put out,” recalled Vincent. “So, I bought the other one, and I guess I’m really, really glad that they were out!”

The “fine-dining” waiter said he works about 60 hours a week between two jobs at local restaurants. He stopped for the ticket Casey’s General Store, 1101 W. Main St. in Greenwood, and he scratched the ticket there in the store.

“I’ve hit a number of $500 and $1,000 prizes. I’ve always felt like I’ve done fairly well,” explained Vincent. “Last night, I darn near hit the floor. I just kept looking at it, making sure I wasn’t seeing something that wasn’t there.”

One of the reasons he works so much is a two-month-old child at home with his fiancée, Hannah. When he returned home, he used a question to share the news.

“When I walked through the front door, I just looked at my fiancée and said, ‘Where do you want to get married?’ I threw the ticket down in her lap, and I thought she was going to faint, sitting down,” said Vincent.

In addition to broadening the possibilities for their wedding, Vincent decided that he would pay off his parents’ mortgage with the windfall.

“Before I buy a stick of gum, I’m paying off my parents’ property,” he declared.
“Having the means to do so, I just want to make sure that they don’t have to worry about anything ever again.”

Although he’s now a millionaire, the total payment was $4,225,332 before taxes, Vincent said he’ll continue to work and play the Lottery.

“Oh, yeah. I like what I do,” said the 32-year-old. “I’ve played for years. It’s something I enjoy doing. It’s fun – a little bit of a rush.”

$3,000,000 Taxes Paid” is a $20 game that officially began May 18. Vincent claimed the first of two top prizes in the game. More than $64 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
