A Kansas City mechanic is a half-million dollars richer after winning the second prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game. Jeffery Hurd, 51, bought the winning “$3,000,000 Taxes Paid” ticket at QuikTrip, 1010 Armour Road, in North Kansas City.

Hurd said he planned to “sock it away” with regards to the windfall. He added that he would pay off the house and keep working.

$3,000,000 Taxes Paid” is a $20 game that officially began May 18. The Lottery pays the withholding taxes on the top two prizes, meaning Hurd collected the entire $500,000 prize. Two more second prizes and both top prizes of $3 million are still available in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
