Bonne Terre Man Wins Lotto Jackpot

An auto restoration dealer cruised to a Lotto win and collected $550,000 for the Aug. 15 drawing.  Donald “Dave” Maness, Bonne Terre, said he plays Lotto every week with the same number combination.  However, he didn’t win with his usual set of numbers. The winning ticket was a free ticket he received at random through a Missouri Lottery promotion. There were two winning tickets for the Aug. 15 Lotto draw. Maness, 49, will split the $1.1 million jackpot with a couple from Campbell.

“I bought my ticket a few days before the drawing and kind of forgot about it. So I was sitting at my kitchen table and thought I’d better check my numbers,” Maness shared. “It shocked me when they all matched.”

The winning numbers were 4, 12, 13, 22, 30 and 43.

Maness purchased his ticket at Bonne Terre Convenience, 919 Benham St., in Bonne Terre. The store will receive $2,500 for selling the winning ticket.

Maness says he plans on buying a new lawn mower with his winnings.

“This is good timing because my old mower is about to give out and I was wondering where I’d get the money for a new one. I’ve got my eye on a new zero-turn model,” he chuckled.

The win will also allow him to go with his family on a Disney World vacation next year.

Maness says “persistence” is the key to winning. He plans to continue playing in order to win a bigger jackpot.

“I ain’t giving up yet,” he declared.

Lotto is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Jackpots start at $1 million and grow until someone hits all six numbers. The game also features Lotto Doubler which gives you a chance to double your non-jackpot winnings.
