A Hannibal resident’s spouse will soon be able to retire thanks to a $10,000 Missouri Lottery Scratchers win. Charles Spegal, 69, uncovered the prize on a “Millionaire Riches” Scratchers game on Aug. 5 after purchasing the ticket at Abel’s Quik Shop, 804 Mark Twain Ave., in Hannibal.

“I immediately knew I had won when the first number I matched had a $500 prize,” exclaimed Spegal. “Each and every number matched and had a $500 prize.”

While claiming, Spegal shared that his wife was a bit more excited about the win.

“She’s still working and would like to retire sometime soon, so this is going to go towards that. It couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Spegal.

Before heading back home to Hannibal, Spegal revealed that he had won a $20,000 Scratchers prize five years ago, as well.
Millionaire Riches” is a $10 Scratchers ticket with prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million. Introduced on April 6, the game has more than $26 million in prizes remaining.
