Dedication to her own Missouri Lottery numbers finally paid off for one Adrian woman. Jana Tate, 51, said she’s been playing a set of numbers in Powerball twice a week for years. She got close on June 27, matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000.

“Some of them were birthdays,” explained Tate. “Two or three of them were Chinese fortune cookie numbers.”

Tate bought her winning ticket at Casey’s General Store, 52 N. Highway F, in Garden City. The winning Powerball numbers for June 27 were:  18, 28, 35, 46, 49, and the Powerball number was 27. She found out she was a winner on July 3.
“I walked in the store; didn’t know that I had won anything,” she recalled. “I was watching the screen overhead. I looked at the gentleman who was processing my ticket, and his mouth was open.  I realized that was me; $10,000.”

Tate said she’s sticking with Powerball and $250K Triple Play, and that she’ll continue to use her own numbers.

“Oh yeah. I even added the Power Play, this time,” she declared.

Powerball is a twice weekly Draw Game with jackpots that start at $40 million. For an extra $1 at the time of purchase, players can add Power Play to their ticket to win larger non-jackpot prizes. Lower-tier prizes are multiplied by a Power Play number between two and five. The Power Play number on June 27 was five.
