A St. Peters man claimed the first top prize on the Missouri Lottery’s “Escape to Margaritaville” Scratchers game. Michael Lewis, 32, purchased the $100,000 winning ticket at MC Food Mart, 10701 Page Ave., in St. Louis. This win follows a $50,000 payday last year.

“The last big one was right after Christmas,” recalled Lewis.

The “Escape to Margaritaville” game set a theme for his new experience.

“It was Tuesday night on the way home from work,” he said. “Honestly, I was stunned. There were no words to be said. I just looked at it. I was in shock.”
Lewis, a shop manager for Midas, said he was able to hold on to some of his last windfall. He wasn’t sure what to do with this one.

“At this point in time, I have no idea,” he said. “I’ve got to let it sink in first. Probably, eventually, I’ll do a deck or something like that.”

He said he’ll keep playing, noting that he liked the $10 game, “Millionaire Riches,” and hoped to win that next.

“Keep on playing,” he counseled others. “One day, someone will hit it eventually.”

Escape to Margaritaville” is a $5 game that officially began June 22. The game features another top prize of $100,000 and a second-chance promotion. Fans can enter non-winning tickets into their My Lottery account for the chance to win trips to a Margaritaville® resort.
