A St. Louis home health-care worker is $100,000 richer after winning a Missouri Lottery prize. Kathy Mathes, 51, bought a “20X The Money” Scratchers ticket at Petro Mart, 2701 Telegraph Road in St. Louis, on July 2.

“I stop there every morning,” began Mathes. “First time I bought a $5 one.”

She scratched the ticket at a client’s home that morning.

“I walked it in there and showed him. I said, ‘This ain’t right.’ And he said, ‘I don’t know. It looks legit.’ So we come out here, and I’m just… OMG!” she said.

She immediately knew how to spend the money.

“You know, right now, I need a car. I’m buying me a car,” she declared.

She said she’ll continue to play the Lottery.

“Just keep praying, and God answers,” she counseled others. “I’m not done. I’m going to win the Powerball. Now, I’m going to start on it.”

20X The Money” is a $5 game that officially began May 18. Mathes claimed the second of seven top prizes in the game. More than $13 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
