Amanda Tobben of Grubville will occasionally buy a few Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. She was excited when the store near hear home recently started carrying them. She bought three tickets from Wagner’s Store, 3732 Highway 30 in Lonedell, and won a $50,000 top prize on the “10X Crossword” she had purchased.

“I bought a $3, a $3 and a $2 (ticket),” recalled Tobben. “I bought it at about 7 p.m., but we didn’t scratch it off until around 11 p.m.”

She said she “gathered the family” to check the ticket. Her husband, Cody, asked her to write the complete words down on a sheet of paper so they could add up the prize amount. Then they started celebrating.

“By that time, it was about midnight, and we were like, ‘Who are we going to call?’ We woke a lot of people up that night,” said Tobben.

She went on to say the family “definitely needed it.” She helps run the family business, ABC Plumbing, and Tobben said the money would help pay for a well on their property.

“We bought a foreclosed property last year, and we’ve been having water hauled in. So, we’re going to get a well with the money,” she said.

10X Crossword” is a $3 game that officially began June 1. More than $9 million in prizes, including six more top prizes, remain in the game.
