After learning that he won $398,000 in the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash game, a Jackson man went straight to St. Louis to claim his prize. Benny Myers, 65, said he was checking his numbers on his lunch break the day after the drawing when he found out he was a winner.

“I usually check them in the morning. I scanned it and didn’t really believe it. I had them print me out the numbers from last night and sure enough,” said Myers while claiming the jackpot on June 12.

Myers bought his winning Quick Pick ticket at Jackson ZX, 1831 E. Jackson Blvd. in Jackson. The store received a $500 bonus for selling a winning jackpot ticket. The winning Show Me Cash numbers for June 11 were:  14, 18, 27, 32 and 37.

Though he won on a Quick Pick, Myers said he regularly plays the birthdates of his grandchildren.

“When it gets that size, I buy several,” admitted Myers.

He called his daughter, Mindy, who lives in the St. Louis area and also plays Show Me Cash, to accompany him to the Lottery office. He wasn’t as forthcoming about the win with his wife, Brenda.

“I told her I won just enough to buy her a new set of tires for her pickup,” he joked. “She’ll find out after a while.”

Myers said the plan was to become “debt-free.” He added that retirement is a possibility now.

“I was nervous, but not so much now,” he said.

Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until someone wins. In the last 12 months, a total of 46 Show Me Cash jackpots have been awarded for an average amount of more than $199,000.
