Bernie Woman Brings Home Top Prize

Story Photo

A Bernie woman’s quick errand to the grocery store resulted in a Missouri Lottery top prize. Margaret White, 56, purchased her winning “Double Play” Scratchers ticket while picking up hamburger buns at Town and Country, 881 Walnut St. in Bernie, on June 10. White’s grocery run and split-decision to purchase Lottery Scratchers tickets earned her a $20,000 top prize.
“I went to the dining room table and scratched my other tickets first,” recalled the grandmother. “When I scratched this one off, I was shocked, because the first number I scratched said $3,000. I started shaking.”
After having her husband, Tim, verify that she indeed won $3,000, White uncovered the rest of the ticket and matched four other numbers, totaling $20,000. The couple is planning for some home upgrades with the $20,000 win, specifically new windows.
Double Play” is a $2 Scratchers game that was introduced on March 9. The game currently offers more than $6 million in remaining prizes. Find remaining prize amounts for each Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
