When Rodney Miskimins isn’t selling cars at Rodney’s Enterprises in Centerville, Iowa, you may find him at his condo at the Lake of the Ozarks. While there for the weekend, Miskimins and his wife, Jamasa, tried Club Keno at the Batter’s Box Eatery & Pub, 66 N. Shore Dr. in Lake Ozark, and reeled in a $63,206 prize. They were celebrating their anniversary with another couple and placed a few bets on a 7-spot Club Keno ticket with Double Bulls-Eye.

“The couple we were with, she had picked 39. I looked at her husband and said, ‘You know what, that 39 doesn’t sound very good to me. What were you thinking?’ He said, ‘I was thinking 36.’ That’s exactly what I was thinking, so we put it on there,” recalled Miskimins.

When his numbers came in, he got to have a little fun with the bartender.

“I said, ‘Check this. I’m pretty sure I just won $63,000.’ He said, ‘Yeah, right.’ Run her though,” said Miskimins.

“He jumped and did one of those kick your heels things,” laughed Jamasa.

Miskimins played multiple shares on the ticket, meaning double the normal prize of $31,250 for a 7-spot ticket with Double Bulls-Eye.

“I always hated Keno,” he admitted. “Never could win nothing. I don’t know why I did that. I just did it. Only thing I wish I would have done differently is play three or four times.”

He didn’t have big plans for the windfall.

“Hoard it,” stated Miskimins. “Save it for retirement.”

Jamasa, part-owner of a restaurant in Lancaster, was excited about the win and what it could mean for her business, Buddy’s Place. She pointed out that several of the customers at the Batter’s Box were playing Keno, which she is proud to offer in her restaurant.

As far as advice for other players, Miskimins suggested, “Play double.”

Club Keno is a daily Draw Game with drawings every four minutes. Originally only available in age-controlled environments, Keno is available at any Missouri Lottery retail location as Keno To Go. Players choose how many numbers to play, also called “spots.”
