Truck Driver Hauls In Lottery Win

A truck driver rolled his way to a $10,171 Mega Millions win on the May 5 drawing.  Joseph Smith of Montgomery, Ala., purchased his winning tickets at Pilot Travel Center, 1 Camp Branch Road in Warrenton.  Smith, 53, purchased two tickets with the winning combination.

“I accidentally bought two tickets with the same numbers,” Smith explained.  “That mistake paid off, I guess.”

The duplicate tickets with the same winning combination, along with lower tier winnings, netted Smith his $10,171 total.  The winning numbers drawn were 11, 21, 42, 62, 71 and the Mega Ball was 7.

“My route takes me from Alabama to Minnesota, and I always buy Missouri Lottery tickets on my way through.  I don’t play any other state lotteries,” Smith added.  “The Missouri Lottery is the best.”

Smith says he plans to pay a few bills and possibly purchase a new car with his winnings.

Mega Millions is a game with huge jackpots, a large second prize and a total of nine ways to win. The jackpot starts at $15 million and grows to millions by no less than $5 million for each draw.
