A couple from De Soto enjoys scratching Missouri Lottery tickets together, so it’s only natural that they share the $100,000 prize. Robert and Stephanie DeRousse claimed the final top prize available on the “$100,000 Fortune” Scratchers game. Stephanie explained that they bought two tickets at Papin Pit Stop, 3201 Papin Road in De Soto, on April 9.

“We usually buy two tickets, and then he’ll take one, and I’ll take one,” she began. “He scratched it off. I was shaking; he was just sitting there drinking a beer. So, he was all right with it.”

The part-time bus driver, part-time school aid, described the moment her husband, who works for the railroad, uncovered the prize.

“He usually just scratches the numbers first and the prizes second,” she explained. “He saw the first one (prize) and scratched the second one, and the same thing. Then he went to the very last prize to see how much it was, and it was the same thing. We found out all 20 of them had won.”

DeRousse, 36, said they would use the money to “pay bills,” but went on to name a couple of purchases they both wanted.

“Washer and dryer; I’m excited for that,” she said. “And, he wants a boat.

“Keep scratching,” she suggested to other players.

$100,000 Fortune” is a $5 game that officially began April 14, 2014. The game is no longer being distributed, as all of the top prizes have now been claimed.
