A trip out of his home state has landed a Cahokia, Ill., man a $100,000 Missouri Lottery prize. While visiting St. Louis on April 7, Jamari Hare, 21, purchased a “$100,000 Crossword Doubler” Scratchers ticket from Kaiser Grand Mart, 5000 S. Grand Blvd. Hare did not realize he had won a top prize in the game until he returned home to his family the following day.
“I screamed. I had to count the words a few times to make sure,” laughed the winner.

Hare brought his parents and two sisters with him while claiming his prize on April 8 at the Lottery’s St. Louis office. When asked how he found out about his son’s Lottery win, Hare’s father laughed and said he knew something was happening when he heard his son’s high pitched screaming from clear across the house.

With his $100,000 prize, the Cahokia, Ill., resident plans to pay off his college tuition and hopes to join the Marines.

$100,000 Crossword Doubler” is a $5 crossword-inspired Scratchers ticket that was officially introduced on Nov. 3, 2014. Hare is the third Missouri Lottery player to claim a $100,000 top prize in the game, with two others remaining.
