Linda Marquez of Columbia admitted that she plays the Missouri Lottery “every day.” The home care nurse especially likes the “Playbook” Scratchers games, but she also enjoys playing the “7” ticket. It was a “7” ticket that she purchased on April 8 at Petro Mart, 5612 E. St. Charles Road in Columbia, that led to her biggest win to date - $20,000.

“The first one I scratched was $5,000. I was like (gasp),” began Marquez. “And then I kept scratching… The last two were $5,000 each, so $20,000. I couldn’t believe it.”

Marquez, 50, stopped to share the news with her husband, Oscar, on the way to claim the prize in Jefferson City. He requested that she return with lunch. Marquez said she welcomed the diversion in her day.

“I was headed home,” she explained. “I didn’t make it that far. I turned around and came back. I was going to take a nap, but I think I’m too wired for that.”

Marquez said she was looking forward to a adding a pantry to their home.

“We’re going to build a room addition, and just catch up some bills,” she said. “And we’re going to have some fun. I do a lot of canning and things, and I have a lot of kitchen equipment. I need more room.”

She will continue to play the Lottery. As she waited for her check, Marquez won $100 on a “Mega Multiplier Playbook” Scratchers ticket.

“I’m playing now!” she said. “I’ve been waiting forever for this win. I just can’t believe it.”

7” is a $5 game that officially began Feb. 2. The game features a top prize of $77,777. More than $7 million in prizes, including three top prizes, remain in the game.
