A Rosebud resident started her day on a high note to the tune of $100,000, courtesy of the Missouri Lottery. On her way to work on March 9, Cindy Storie, 53, stopped by Owensville Motomart, 413 E. Lincoln Ave., in Owensville to purchase Scratchers tickets. One of her tickets, “$1,000,000 Platinum Payout,” contained a $100,000 second-tier prize.

While claiming her prize at the Lottery’s Headquarters in Jefferson City, Storie said she purchased her ticket at 6:30 a.m.

“I scratched them off in my car. I started to get the same numbers. ‘Maybe it will be a $100 winner,’” thought the mother of two. “Then I scratched off $4,000, $4,000, $10,000 and scratched off the rest, and I started crying.”

Storie called her entire family after realizing she had won the $100,000 prize. Two of her sisters and their mother accompanied Storie to Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City to claim her prize.

“I called my daughter and told her I was going to buy her a car. I’m going pay off my car and invest the rest. My boss asked, ‘Are you going to give me your notice?’” laughed Storie, who plans on keeping her job at Smokers Express in Owensville.

While claiming Stories’ prize, the energetic bunch disclosed that they are all Lottery players, noting multiple $1,000-plus prizes among the group.
