Twenty employees of Alco Controls in Maryland Heights are sharing a $100,000 Powerball prize after a ticket the group purchased matched all five white-ball numbers on July 19 to win the second-level prize. Each will receive approximately $5,000 before taxes. The winning numbers, which they let the computer select, were: 1, 3, 4, 7 and 11. Barbara Thomasson said the current group of 20 employees has been playing Powerball together for the past four or five years. They each contribute $4 a week to the Powerball pool. But this is not the first or the second time Alco Control employees have won a $100,000 Powerball prize, but the third time. "I’m the only one that has won all three times," Thomasson said. The two other times, 23 employees split the prize to win approximately $4,347 each before taxes. The other two wins were 13 weeks apart on Feb. 26, 1994, and June 4, 1994. In addition, an employee from Alco Controls - Leonard Drew - won a Powerball jackpot worth $7.8 million on July 1, 1995. Drew has since retired. To date, 594 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
